How Online Vocal Removal Works
Vocal and accompaniment separation is powered by deep learning. The audio is first converted into a spectrogram — a two-dimensional representation with time on the horizontal axis and frequency on the vertical axis — that preserves pitch and loudness. A U-shaped encoder-decoder network then analyzes this representation at multiple scales, learns the frequency fingerprints of vocals versus instruments, and generates a mask that marks the vocal components. Applying the mask back to the original spectrogram and inverting the transform reconstructs clean vocals and a vocal-free accompaniment track. Everything runs on the server automatically — upload, wait a few minutes, and listen to or download both tracks.
